Building an economy that works for all of Montana
Montana’s future depends on more than growth in a few population centers. Families in rural communities, Tribal communities, and small towns deserve the same shot at opportunity as anyone else. That means creating the conditions for strong local businesses, good-paying jobs, and long-term investment that keeps people working close to home.
Michael Black Wolf believes Montana needs an economy built from the ground up. Small businesses, family farms, ranchers, tradespeople, and entrepreneurs already carry much of this state on their backs. They should have a partner in Washington, not more barriers.
Support for small businesses and local employers
Small businesses are often the first to invest in a town and the last to leave when times get tough. They create jobs, keep dollars local, and help communities stay alive. Michael supports policies that make it easier for Montana businesses to start, hire, expand, and compete.
That includes improving access to capital, cutting unnecessary red tape, and making sure federal investment actually reaches rural communities instead of stopping in larger markets. Montana business owners should not be overlooked just because of where they live.
Workforce development that meets real needs
A stronger economy requires more than promises. It requires practical investment in people. Michael supports workforce training, apprenticeship programs, career and technical education, and partnerships that connect students and workers with real job opportunities.
Not every good career requires leaving home or taking on overwhelming debt. Montana needs more paths into the skilled trades, health professions, technology, agriculture, construction, and other in-demand industries that already matter here.
Infrastructure that supports growth
No community can compete without reliable infrastructure. Michael supports stronger investment in rural broadband, roads, utilities, and community facilities that help businesses operate and families stay connected.
Broadband is no longer optional. It affects business, education, telehealth, and basic access to opportunity. Rural communities should not be left behind simply because they are harder to serve.
Keeping Montana talent in Montana
Too many young people feel like they have to leave Montana to find opportunity. Michael wants to change that by supporting policies that help people build careers, start businesses, buy homes, and raise families here.
The goal is simple: create an economy where success does not require leaving your community behind.
